the Legend "Bernardo Carpio"

Impression in the Legend "Bernardo Carpio"
The King in the story was bad and he is very cruel. That is my impression because the King wanted Bernardo Carpio die. Even thou the King knows that Bernardo Carpio is innocent and very kind.
Summary
When the forbidden love affair between his sister Infanta and political rival Sancho was discovered by the King Alfonso, he ordered the imprisonment of Infanta and the murder of Sancho. The young Bernardo was able to escape the furious King Alfonso only to be discovered later. But the boy has grown as a giant. The cruel king wanted Bernardo to suffer the same fate as with his parents so he ordered a shaman to have him locked-up until he meets his death deep within the hallows of the mountain in Montalban. The shaman was able to lure Bernardo into the trapped. It is said that whenever an earthquake occurs, it is caused by Bernardo trying to escape from the bowels of the mountain.
Cultural, Historical and Place
Bernardo Carpio is known to have a special strength and have been trapped by the two rocks that whenever he tries to go out, there will be an earthquake. This happened at San Mateo Rizal.
Positive points of the Legend
I have learn that don't be so envious.
I conclude that, God created all of us with different gift of talents. God gave each of us talent to share what you have to others.

Why the Sea is Salty?

WHY SEA BECAME SALTY

The legend of why sea became salty says that a long time ago, there was a giant that used to live in one of the islands next to the nice people, this giant was very generous and always gave them salt to prepare very tasty meals.
One day, the ocean was very agitated and the people could not go to the giant's island for some salt, the days passed by and the sea was still very rough, eventually they ran out of salt for their food and started to find a way to go and get it. A child gave them the idea to ask the gentle giant to stretch one of his legs so they could cross the ocean and get the salt they needed.
The giant accepted the idea, but when he stretched his leg, he didn't notice that landed on an anthill. This made the ants furious and started to bite the poor giant's leg, the giant, in pain, asked the people to hurry.
As soon as the people made it to the other side, the giant gave them sacks full of salt. When they were done the giant stretched his leg one more time, landing, again on the anthill.
The giant in more pain than before, begged to the people to hurry because the ants were biting him again, but the sacks were so heavy that slowed down the people. Sadly before the people were able to reach their own village, the giant in a scream of pain moved his leg to the ocean so the ants won't bite him anymore, throwing the people and the sacks of salt in it.
The giant saw the people drowning and in a quick move save them, but the salt melted in the ocean, that at that time didn't have any taste, making it salty.

And this is the Legend of how the sea has the salty taste.
my mom thought me this story when i was still a little girl, she said it was from manila bay yet i think it is, because its so close to the myth.
my first impression is not close to the story or myths because i thought the giant get mad at the people so the giant spill the salt all over them.
I conclude that without salt.. That salt is important because we use it in our daily needs like spices in food and medicine

The Legend Of Mayon Volcano

The Legend Of Mayon Volcano My Impression about the story is it’s about vengeance and jealousy and a man who wants to be with someone who doesn’t love him back The legend of the Mayon volcano says that a long time ago, there used to live a beautiful girl called Darang Magayon, who had many guys after her from various tribes, one of them was Pagtuga, the tribal chief from Iriga, who was also a great hunter. But Darang Magayon was not interested on him. One day, Darang Magayon was bathing in the Yaw river, and she slipped on the rocks. She did not knew how to swim, but then Panganoron, son of Rajah Karilaya, from the Tagalogs, saved her while he was walking by the river. After saving her life, Panganoron started to court her, and after some days she finally accepted his proposal, and so Panganoron decided to ask Darang Magayon's father, Rajah Makusong for her hand in matrimony. The father accepted him. The legend says that when Pagtuga heard of the news he got very angry, so he decided to kidnapped Rajah Makusong and took him to the mountains, then he told everyone that he would release him if Darang Magamon would marry him. Afraid that Pagtuga would hurt her father, she accepted to be his wife. When Panganon knew about the situation , he asked to his warriors to follow him to the mountains to fight against Panganoron. The battle was fierce. Panganoron killed Pagtuga, but later he was killed by an arrow thrown by one of Pagtuga's warriors. Sadly another arrow pierced Darang Magayon when she was running to the arms of his love, killing her. After the battle was over, Rajah Makusong dug a grave and laid the bodies of both lovers in it. As days passed by, people who went to the grave to pay respect, saw that the grave was rising, turning into a land form and they started to call it Mayon (short for Mayon). While some says that the eruptions on the Mayon volcano, are the sings of the love between the lovers. Other says that the spirit of Darang Magayon lives on the volcano, and the spirit of Panganoron lives on the clouds above, and all year long disperse rain to keep the flowers and plants fresh, so it stays beautiful The Legend took place in the province of Albay, on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The positive points of the story are the place/romance and how they will fight to death just for their love ones.

LEGEND OF MANGO

My impression about the legend of the story is that it may happen in real life. It mirrors the situation of a rich person who does not value everything he has so at the end he lose everything. he who value even a small things gain a lot in the future.

There was a very rich happy couple who lived in a far away town who has 3 sons. the wife died and the husband hardly accept what happen that's why he is always drunk all day long. Soon the family is heavily indebted and their family lawyer advice the siblings to divide all the properties to three of them before it was all gone. the eldest son got all the land, the second son got the big house and all the properties in it. While the youngest son decided to take care of their father on a small nipa hut on the end of the land his older brother had given him. He was already on the brink of death. The father was very thankful and asked forgiveness to the youngest son. The father told the youngest son that he has nothing to give him other than the heart of his mom and his. He was referring to a fortunate seed that he and his mother had been keeping it that is like a "heart shape" seed. The very ill father instructed him to take care of the seed just like the way he loved and took care of him. The father had passed away and the youngest son planted the heart shaped seed, he takes care and water it every day. When the day came, the tree bears cluster of green fruits that shaped like hearts and when it is ripened it become yellow and so sweet. The youngest son sold the ripe fruits and he was paid a lot of money. He planted again the seed of the remaining ripe fruits so the tree will multiply. on the next year, he got a land of his own where he planted a lot more fruits. while the two elder brothers had consumed all his properties. The youngest son's effort had all paid off in all his sacrifices he had made to his father. Time came, the youngest son had bought their old family house and lands. He then invited his two elder brothers to live with him on the center of the land he had made for mango plantation. since then they had proven that the success of a person lies in the effort that has been done to better his situation.

The place of origin of the legend is on a vast farm land wherein you can build a big house and can plant many trees as you wish for. the cultural and historical background lies on the usual culture of a very rich family wherein next to the father, the eldest son has the power to make decisions and can get the bigger share of properties compared to other siblings and the youngest get the least one.

the positive points of the legend is that the youngest son took care of the seed just like he took care and love his father.

I therefore conclude that patience and hard work are the pathway to success.

legend of maria makiling

legend of maria makiling
I think that the Legend of Maria Makiling is such a great story and gives great lessons.First of all,the story shows that no mountain is to high to reach if the one you love is right there waiting for you.Second is that love doesn't base on apperance, power and wealth because love is only present for those who accept each other for who they are,not for what they have.Next is someone who is rich, powerful and good looking has no chance of winning to the ones who have good heart, humble and ready to offer anything they have just to be with someone they love.Last is ending someone's life doesn't give us what we want nor becoming a better person perhaps this will only end up facing the consequences. Back then, there was a fairy named Maria, she is a very beautiful being who lived in the mountains of Laguna. She is a very generous creature who always lends a hand to the ones in need and because of that, the people nearby loves her. Many men wants her because of her beauty, three of them was Captain Lara,Joselito and the most industrious which is Juan.By the night of the full moon, all of her admirers went to the mountain because Maria said that she would tell which one she truly loves. That night, she said that Juan is the one she loves. The suitors went away disappointed and they felt anger to Juan and thought of a plan against him.One day everyone is surprised when a huge fire devoured a cuartel of the Spanish.Captain Lara captured the Filipinos including Juan which was imprisoned and tortured, secretly Joselito helped Captain Lara. One night,Captain Lara and Joselito spoke to the prisoners and frightened them to blame Juan. The next day,Juan was blamed by burning the cuartel,"I did not do it" said juan but the prisoners pointed him.The soldiers brought Juan to the plazza and shot with hundreds of soldiers like an enemy of Spaniards. He died even though he did nothing wrong but before he died,he shouted and Maria heard that. She rushed and tried to get in to the plazza but it's too late,Juan is already dead.Maria cursed Captain Lara and Joselito to death. After that,Maria never let herself be seen again.Everytime somebody got lost on the mountains, they remember the great love of Maria Makiling. The story took place at Laguna, more specific at Mt.Makiling. Mt.Makiling Which is known to be a mysterious mountain at Laguna because people living near that mountain said that many people who climbed up there never went back and never been seen again. Many people think that this is the cause of the author to write about this mysterious things happening at Mt.Makiling.People there in Laguna is well known in many different categories like sculpting, coconut productions and hot springs and other unique things. There are also many tourist destinations at Laguna like Pagsanjan falls and Mt.Makiling. The Legend was narrated in a very understandful way. First is because each scene was stated in a complete detailed manner. Second is because the plot of the storry is not so cunfusing and complicated.Third is the moral of the storry which can be easily seen, but states a very good lessons that we can also apply to our life. Fourth is the characters which have different personalities and status in life and still they were connected in a very nice way. Over all,I think the story has a perfect theme, plot, setting and characters. This story should be passed from generation to more generations because it has good morals that can be learned by reading it with your mind and also your heart. The story should also be preserved because of the value of it from the people living in Laguna province and many Filipinos. The real reason of the people getting lost and never have been seen again in the Mt.Makiling is not yet proven, believers should believe and those who don't should respect.
