LEGEND OF MANGO

My impression about the legend of the story is that it may happen in real life. It mirrors the situation of a rich person who does not value everything he has so at the end he lose everything. he who value even a small things gain a lot in the future.

There was a very rich happy couple who lived in a far away town who has 3 sons. the wife died and the husband hardly accept what happen that's why he is always drunk all day long. Soon the family is heavily indebted and their family lawyer advice the siblings to divide all the properties to three of them before it was all gone. the eldest son got all the land, the second son got the big house and all the properties in it. While the youngest son decided to take care of their father on a small nipa hut on the end of the land his older brother had given him. He was already on the brink of death. The father was very thankful and asked forgiveness to the youngest son. The father told the youngest son that he has nothing to give him other than the heart of his mom and his. He was referring to a fortunate seed that he and his mother had been keeping it that is like a "heart shape" seed. The very ill father instructed him to take care of the seed just like the way he loved and took care of him. The father had passed away and the youngest son planted the heart shaped seed, he takes care and water it every day. When the day came, the tree bears cluster of green fruits that shaped like hearts and when it is ripened it become yellow and so sweet. The youngest son sold the ripe fruits and he was paid a lot of money. He planted again the seed of the remaining ripe fruits so the tree will multiply. on the next year, he got a land of his own where he planted a lot more fruits. while the two elder brothers had consumed all his properties. The youngest son's effort had all paid off in all his sacrifices he had made to his father. Time came, the youngest son had bought their old family house and lands. He then invited his two elder brothers to live with him on the center of the land he had made for mango plantation. since then they had proven that the success of a person lies in the effort that has been done to better his situation.

The place of origin of the legend is on a vast farm land wherein you can build a big house and can plant many trees as you wish for. the cultural and historical background lies on the usual culture of a very rich family wherein next to the father, the eldest son has the power to make decisions and can get the bigger share of properties compared to other siblings and the youngest get the least one.

the positive points of the legend is that the youngest son took care of the seed just like he took care and love his father.

I therefore conclude that patience and hard work are the pathway to success.
